About Lauren Moreau

Prior to Covid, I was freelancing as a writer and editor for Edible magazine, among other places. I'm not really a food writer, but I'm interested in food through the lens of climate, folkways, and animal welfare. I currently work as a freelance grant writer, transcriber, and dog walker. Before moving back to New York in 2019, I spent six years living abroad—I did my undergrad degree in English literature at the University of Edinburgh and a master's in literature at Oxford, then spent a year teaching English in France. While my academic background is in literature and theory, (and I'm always interested in those areas!), currently I'm fascinated by scholarship on non-human intelligence and the ethics of humans' relationships with animals, plants, and the natural world.
