About Alex Kuchma

Hi! My name is Alex Kuchma, I'm an MA student in history at York University and have been researching hip-hop actively and collecting oral histories for more than a decade. In 2018 I began conducting a large scale oral history project on the development of hip-hop in Canada which has led me to have hundreds of conversations with hip-hop artists and enthusiasts throughout the country. I currently reside in Toronto as I finish the Toronto chapter of the book and continue my scholarly research on the local Toronto scene and its connection to New York from the mid 1970s till today. I have a strong passion for learning and sharing what I learn with others.
