About Miranda Melcher

I completed my PhD in Defense Studies at King's College London, where I researched how to negotiate and implement peace treaties. My focus was particularly on the security aspects of peace treaties (military integration, DDR, SSR, etc) and my case studies were Mozambique and Angola. I have been trained as a political scientist (Yale BA); in my graduate research I have primarily conducted interviews and done archival research. I have taught war studies (a methodological combination of history, politics, and political science) more generally for a number of years, including a much wider range of current (Syria, Yemen) and historical civil wars (Liberia, Sierra Leone, England, France, Russia), and on a range of topics related to war, including how war impacts the environment, institutional impacts, and how we remember/talk about wars. My current role is in digital education (as I've taught for many years, I've decided to develop this area of my knowledge/practice), with a particular research emphasis on neurodiversity and inclusive education.
