About Ursula Hackett

I am Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Politics at Royal Holloway, University of London. I work on American Political Development (APD), public policy and law, federalism, education, and religion and politics. My award-winning book 'America's Voucher Politics' is out with Cambridge University Press. I’m a mixed-methods researcher, equally at home with statistical analysis and qualitative methodologies, and I have interviewed over 150 American policymakers, bureaucrats, and advocates – even a cardinal! My writing guide 'Brilliant Essays' is published by Macmillan Study Skills, and my two-year-old YouTube channel, How to Write Brilliant Essays, has 13,000+ views and around 500 subscribers. As an NBN host I would bring extensive experience of interviewing and presenting; a broad network of contacts within the discipline; quick reading and enthusiasm for engaging with a wide range of research in political science; and a mellifluous alto voice with a British accent.
