I am a PhD candidate in Atlantic History at Florida International University where I specialize in modern Cuban history. I completed fields in Modern Latin America and the Spanish Caribbean, Gender and Family in Colonial Latin America, as well as Comparative Communist Cultures. I received my B.A. and M.A. at the University of South Florida where I concentrated my research on Russian and Soviet History.
While my dissertation analyzes the intellectual and cultural politics of black motherhood in 20th century Cuba, my research and teaching interests lie more broadly in the fields of gender, race, and culture in socialist societies. I'm also interested in the Global Left and African diaspora histories.
ABD at FIU. Scholar of race, gender, and family in 20th c. Cuba.
