I am a PhD candidate at the University of Leipzig studying cultural anthropology. I am about a year and half into my dissertation work at the moment. The dissertation looks at Shi'i Muharram rituals through the lens of Object-Oriented Ontology. For this reason, my academic interests generally converge at the meeting points of anthropology and philosophy. However, one of my side research areas for at least 15 years has been the Soviet Union and Central Asia, bringing history and politics also into my field of vision.
