I am currently a high school social studies teacher, although I'll begin as assistant professor of history at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in January. My dissertation (defended March 2020) examined the agrarian transition in post-World War II Mississippi through the lens of settler colonialism, with a particular focus on the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. My interests are broad and include Native American history, the American South, African American history, and histories of colonialism and decolonization.
John Cable will begin a teaching appointment at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in January 2022. He earned the Ph.D. in history at Florida State University in 2020.
