About Juan Esteban Plaza
I am a writer, literary scholar, and translator. With a Chilean background, my work is nurtured by a multilingual, pluri-cultural experience. Aside from my academic experience, I have worked in the T.V. industry. My topics of interest encompass Latin American literature, film, visual arts, historiographic and ethnographic discourses; postcolonial theory, race theory, and gender theory. Currently I am finishing a PhD program in Iberian and Latin American Cultures at Stanford University. My doctoral dissertation focuses on the relation between temporality and race in the Caribbean during the 20th century.
