Nicole Correri is a Ph.D. Candidate in Islamic Studies under the direction of Professor Kecia Ali. She has also earned the Boston University Graduate Certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her areas of interest include Shi'a Islam, Gender Studies, Feminist Theory, Digital Religion, and Ritual Studies. Her particular focus area is on gender construction in contemporary online English language Twelver Shi‘a religious discourse. Her dissertation "Speaking for Zaynab: Contestations in Contemporary Shī‘ī Religious Authority and Gendered Ideals" examines the development of a new genre of devotion in Twelver Shi'ism, the online English language majālis using digital religion and feminist theory as her main theoretical lenses relying on contemporary scholarship on Islam, and Shi‘ism in particular.
