Devika Jain
Devika Jain in Data Science Manager at Center for Geographic Analysis, IQSS, Harvard University where she leads initiatives in GeoAI, Spatial Data Science and Big Data using High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Cloud Computing. She has led the development of impactful solutions, including TSGI (a UN-recognized spatial well-being metric), RINX- a transformative tool for the handling of raster big data , and a novel K-NN method enabling the first individual-level analysis of partisan segregation in USA. She has also spearheaded the development of university-wide Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) at Harvard.
Jain has managed key projects funded by Harvard’s Office of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR), the National Science Foundation’s Industry–University Cooperative Research Centers (NSF/IUCRC), and the Gates Foundation. Her research was one of the nationally selected projects for the National Science Foundation's I-GUIDE Spatial AI Challenge Cohort.
Jain is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the American Association of Geographers (AAG's) Health Data Visualization Award, Geospatial Rising Star Award, and the Women in GIS Distinguished Contributions Award given in collaboration with ESRI. Her work has been featured in prominent media outlets, including The New York Times, MIT, NSF/IUCRC, MOC Alliance and Harvard News.
Prior to her role at the Center for Geographic Analysis, she worked with Fraunhofer IIS, the German Research Foundation, and the London School of Economics (LSE). She holds a Master of Science in Geoinformation Science from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany and Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from HBTU, India.
