About Joe Williams

I'm a PhD student from the UK, doing my research at the Department of Contemporary History University of Coimbra. My thesis deals with censorship of Portuguese print media during the Spanish Civil War, focusing on the ideological dimensions of censorship and discourse in the context of an authoritarian dictatorship.

I also work with the online literary journal and podcast channel Trafika Europe, where I host interviews with authors about new works of literature from the Council of Europe countries, as well as aspects of European culture more generally:
