About Allie Morris

Hello! I am Allie Morris, a joint Ph.D. student in History and Educational Policy Studies at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. I am interested in the history of gender, women, and sexuality, childhood and youth, and education in the late 20th-century United States. I have completed two master’s degrees, one in History, where I wrote a thesis examining the portrayal of women's history in high school history textbooks from American classrooms between 1960 and 1990. My second M.A. is in education, where I wrote about high school girls' activism within the Women's Liberation Movement. For my dissertation, I am interested in examining the way that age and gender intersect with feminist movements of the 20th century. To achieve this, I aim to investigate further the political history of girlhood, girls’ culture, and activism in American high schools.
