About Victor Monnin

Victor graduated in Contemporary Philosophy from the Panthéon Sorbonne University, as well as in History and Theory of the Arts from the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. He received his PhD in Epistemology and History of Science at from the University of Strasbourg, France. His research focuses primarily on the political history of nineteenth-century paleontology. He is also interested in the history and current practices of paleoart, the artistic reconstruction of extinct species based on scientific evidence. He runs a podcast series, "The Making of Deep Time", featuring paleoartists, paleontologists, and scholars from around the world to discuss the visualization of the deep past. Currently based in Chicago, Victor teaches the Humanities at the Illinois Institute of Technology and French at DePaul University.

Victor Monnin, Ph.D. is an historian of science specialized in the history of Earth sciences. He is also teaching French language and literature to undergraduates.
