My name is Jesilyn Faust and I recently earned my PhD in Global Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara. I am part of the first graduating class of Global Studies PhDs and as such I have a unique interdisciplinary and intersectional perspective that fits well with many of the different NBN channels. Currently, I have a lecturer position at San Jose State University in both the Environmental and Global Studies department as well as the Sociology department. In both departments I teach classes the deal with gender, sexuality, globalization, development, and research methodology. My research connects the history of Spanish colonialism in Morocco and the Philippines with contemporary gender based human rights struggles with a focus on indigenous women's activism. My work engages deeply with several areas of critical theory including feminist, decolonial, materialist, and other perspectives. I have published several works on Morocco and edited a volume on marriage practices in Iran. I am a huge fan of the NBN and a long time listener. I would love to join as a host!
