About Richard Miller

I am a scholar of religion, ethics, and political thought. I taught at the University of Chicago from 2014-2024 and, prior to that, in the Dept. of Religious Studies at Indiana University (1985-2014) where I also directed the Poynter Center for the Study of Ethics and American Institutions (2013-23). I have published numerous articles and 6 books that range across the ethics of war, biomedicine, democratic theory, moral philosophy, cultural theory, the study of religion, and public affairs.

Richard B. Miller is the Laura Spelman Rockefeller Emeritus Professor of Religion, Politics and Ethics at the University of Chicago.
