About Marcus Golding

I am a PhD candidate in Latin American history working on the cultural and economic influences of US oil firms in Venezuela. I explore the networks of investments and alliances they fostered in the country as a strategy to prolong their control over local petroleum throughout most of the twentieth century. My general intellectual interests are connected to social and business histories in Latin America in the twentieth century. More specifically I am interested in corporate responsibility strategies, private welfare programs, national development, third world nationalism and the Cold War. I am from Caracas, Venezuela and beyond the intellectual world I like soccer and science fiction, specially Star Wars.
