About David Maruzzella

My name is David—I studied philosophy at NYU, the École normale supérieure in Paris, and at DePaul University where I received my PhD in 2021. I research contemporary French philosophy—with a focus on epistemology, materialism, and philosophy of science—as well as Spinoza. I've also translated works by a number of contemporary figures, but have lately been working on translations of contemporary scholarship on Spinoza and Marx for Edinburgh University Press. I'm also working on a longer term project involving the archival material of philosopher Louis Althusser. I've spent the past 5 years working at a university art museum so, in addition to my background in academic philosophy, I also am interested in contemporary art, experimental music and literature, film, and museum studies. By day I'm at the museum and occasionally teach university level classes, but do philosophy on "nights and weekends" so to speak. I listen to NBN episodes frequently as the soundtrack to my long distance running!
