About Zachary Myers

Hello! My name is Zach - I'm from Bermuda, and I moved to the U.K. to study for a BA in English at the University of Cambridge, and later an MA in Race, Ethnicity and Postcolonial Studies at University College London. I'm currently a Provenance Researcher at the British Library where I'm studying the library's historical connections to slavery in the Caribbean, and I'll be starting a PhD in History in October. I've been a longtime listener of the Caribbean Studies podcast, as my broad research interests are in anything Caribbean, across any language, time period, or academic discipline. My initial academic interests were in Anglophone Caribbean literature and Caribbean cultural studies more broadly. My interests and expertise are now more historical in nature, with a particular emphasis on 19th and 20th century cultural and intellectual histories. I have a particular interest in transnational and pan-Caribbean liberation movements and comparative histories of decolonization and regionalism in the Hispanophone and Anglophone Caribbean. Professionally, I have research expertise in studying the institutional legacies of slavery in heritage organisations.
