About Dion Georgiou

I am a modern and contemporary historian, primarily of Britain and the US, but within a more broadly comparative, global, and interdisciplinary framework. Areas of particular focus include: Cities and suburbs; Conflict and violence; Culture and media industries; Diaspora and migration; Environments; Ideologies, politics, and culture; Injustice and resolution; Lifecycles and memory. I have worked in higher education in the UK for nearly two decades, most recently as a Senior Lecturer in Modern History and Politics at the University of Chichester. I completed my PhD in History at Queen Mary University of London in 2016. I am currently working as a freelance writer, and running my own contemporary history newsletter, The Academic Bubble.
