About Željko Stanojević
I am a Hebrew linguist, independent researcher, and Editor-in-Chief of the European Hebrew Journal (EHJ), an international peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to Hebrew and Jewish Studies. My research interests include Biblical Hebrew, Semitic linguistics, Qumran and Dead Sea Scroll studies, biblical philology, textual criticism, onomastics, historical linguistics, etymology, lexicography, and comparative language studies.
I am the author of several Hebrew dictionaries, biblical name dictionaries, and scholarly works on Hebrew language, manuscript traditions, and Bible translation. My research frequently explores the history and origin of words, naming traditions, and linguistic contacts between Hebrew and other language families. I am particularly interested in the relationship between language, culture, religion, and history, as well as the use of interdisciplinary approaches in the study of ancient texts and traditions.
In addition to my academic work, I am actively involved in scholarly publishing, open-access initiatives, and the promotion of international collaboration in Hebrew, Jewish, and Semitic Studies.
